about

As part of The Sprocket Podcast's 2012 fundraising campaign, Brock promised to write a song based on listeners' experiences for donors who chose the option. The first track was based on Darren Sinn's year-long travel adventure by bike through New Zealand and Europe, documented on his blog, cycletourer.blogspot.com, and the title for the song was swiped from this blog as well! Many thanks to Darren for sharing his experiences with us, and for helping the show continue through its next season. For interviews, revelry, deep thinking and more, visit: thesprocketpodcast.com

lyrics

taking flight, leaving home
bags are packed, one year to roam
single tread on quiet roads
shouldering a heavy load
Bushmills for a dram or two, strangers stop to say "how-do-you-do"
many pints pass through my hands, so good to see you again

home is where the bike is
home is where your heart is
home is where the bike is
home

weather's warm for three weeks
lucky me, camped by the creeks
cost three euro, glad I'm here
only paid ninety cents for beer
London, Brighton and Cornwall, Captain Australia's seen them all
ride the ferry out to France, are there pirates in Penzance?

seven thousand miles without a flat but sometimes things break down
it's alright, a solution's never far away
